Jewelry Holder

I love necklaces but never seem to wear them since they are always at the bottom of my jewelry bag.

Out of sight, out of mind.

Therefore, I decided to make a jewelry holder which allowed me to view my collection.

Several months ago I found an old spice rack at Goodwill for $2.99. I originally bought the rack with the intention of using it for storage in my craft room but eventually decided against it.

Yes, someone else attempted some lovely DIY before me.

First step – Sanded the piece down

Second step – Cut off the middle shelf and dowel to allow for the necklaces to hang

Cutting the shelf left holes so wood putty was used to fill them

Third step – Paint (primer from the garage), add hooks ($3.94), and secure to closet wall

Fourth step – Hang jewelery

The little shelves allow me to display bracelets and gives me a place for my earrings in boxesΒ

Before

After $6.93

Hopefully, I’ll wear more jewelry now that I will see it every day

Do you have a favorite way to display jewelry?

  1. Love it!!! I have been complaining about the exact same thing, so many necklaces, mine are thicker than yours…and nowhere to see them. I will have to look around for my next DIY project.

  2. Great idea! My jewelry cabinet finally collapsed for the final time about a month ago, and has yet to be replaced. When I was younger, I had a cork board and used to hang all of my necklaces on the thumb tacks. I’ve yet to find a better solution than my cork board hanger.

  3. I don’t have a favorite and right now my jewelry is tangled all together in a big box on my dresser and the stuff I wear most often is sitting on top. Not a very good solution. Love how you changed up the spice rack!

  4. I love the idea. My husband was complaining the other day that he had not seen me wear a special piece of jewelry he gave me for our anniversary last year in a long time. Yikes! what jewelry? After much searching, I did find it and wear it last weekend, but I, too, suffer from stashing it away somewhere and forgetting where I put it. This is a very nice solution!

  5. I’m lovin’ the framed fabric jewelry boards I posted about not too long ago. I wore a necklace this weekend that I hadn’t had on in years. It’s amazing how things are all of a sudden new again when you can actually see them!

  6. Cool do-over…Great way to re-think a spice rack…Love the way this came out and thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment.

    Have a great day!

  7. What a great idea! I had a shelf like this but may have gotten rid of it. I have bought a cheap metal looking/small row of hooks and adhered it to the inside of my wardrobe door. I have necklaces on that but too many clustered together.

  8. Such a great idea and it looks fabulous! My daughters are always looking for great ways to hang jewelry. Thanks so much for sharing!

  9. I so need to do something w/ mine. Maybe I need to head to Goodwill to find a spice rack.

  12. Love that idea. I am always looking for an idea for necklaces. It needs to hang on the wall because who has a lot of counter space?

  13. This is awesome!! It turned out darling and I am impressed with how many necklaces fit on there! Thank you so much for linking up to Strut Your Stuff Saturday! We would love to have you come link up again tomorrow!
